About this audiobook
Ruslan's marriage to Lyudmila is interrupted by her mysterious disappearance, turning a celebration into the beginning of a difficult search. The young knight must enter a world of rival claimants, enchantment and unfamiliar dangers. Recovering the person he loves requires more than straightforward bravery, because appearances and intentions repeatedly prove uncertain.
Alexander Pushkin draws on the atmosphere of a fantastic tale while allowing humour and playful narration to unsettle its conventions. Adventures, magical figures and changes of fortune are accompanied by a narrator who makes the telling itself part of the pleasure. The movement between wonder and irony gives the poem a character distinct from a solemn heroic legend.
The story brings love, perseverance and rivalry into an imaginative world shaped by poetic invention. It offers readers an encounter with Pushkin's narrative verse, in which an adventure can remain engaging while also inviting a smile at the expectations that such stories create.
