The tea

"Chaika" of Anton Chekhov is a revolutionary play that forever changed the world drama and became a visit card of the Moscow Art Theatre. This is a vibrant, ironic and deep tragic comedy about art, the suffering of creativity, the unlimited egoism and irresponsible love, where everyone loves the one to whom he is indifferent. The action takes place in a residence near the lake, where people of art and those who are in their shadows are gathered. Young and wounded Constantine Treplev tries to find new forms in the theater and puts his avant-garde play. The main role in it is played by his beloved, young neighbor Nina Zarechna, dreaming of glory and stage. However, the show fails under the city of laughter of the mother of Treplev – the famous but expensive and self-loved actress Arkadina. The situation crashes when Zarechna without memory falls in love with the satellite Arkadina – a fashionable, tired of the success of the belethrist Trigorina. This year-long intersection of judgments and ambitions breaks the lives of the heroes, turning their dreams into scales, like a shooting tea. Chechov genially left the classic theatrical effects: in his play little external action, but behind ordinary conversations, playing the lottery and drinking tea is hidden the catastrophic collapse of human illusions and hopes.
